The scholarship committee oversees the distribution of 2026 scholarship applications to area south suburban high schools and reviews all scholarship applications received. Additionally, the committee coordinates the scholarship application process and the selection of scholarship awards, ensuring all candidates meet the necessary scholarship eligibility requirements.
Details for the 2026 scholarship application will be shared with the Guidance Counselors of area south suburban high schools.
TO BE ELIGIBLE:
Must be a high school senior planning to attend a four-year college or university.
Must have a current minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or a 3.44 on a 5.0 grading scale. Please note that the GPA must be included on the transcript.
Must not be a debutante or beau or the child of an SSCEO board member.
Must reside in the South Suburbs of Chicago.
Must be Black/African American or of African descent.
How can someone get an application and apply?
The scholarship application process involves obtaining application details from the high school’s Guidance Counselors. You can also access the application using the link or flyer above. On the flyer, scan the QR code or select the link to complete the online application.
If you choose to submit a paper application, mailed applications will be accepted. After your application is submitted—whether online or by mail—all transcripts and other required documentation must be sent to the following mailing address:
